Final Gear Oil
How oftentimes should I change my final gear oil? I exercise a lot of urban riding, stop and go traffic, simply so you can figure that in. I alter my oil every 2,500 miles, because I know I'yard putting a lot of wear and tear on the bike, and I program to change the final gear oil today. I was just wondering if there is a regular interval for changing it. Thanks.

Re: Final Gear Oil
Some folks never change the gear oil, but I would do information technology every 50k miles or so. If the dealer has a suggested interval, do that. If you acquire a high mileage vehicle, car or bicycle, perform a consummate tuneup which includes the rear gear oil.

Re: Final Gear Oil
I take an 05 and o bouhbt it in jan, o bet itbwas never changed . Particularly since information technology only had 4500 miles when i bught it. I xhanged at 7500 amd there was tons of metallic broth on the magnetic plug and the oil had quite a hazy opaque red color. The new hypoid oil is crystal clear cherry. So i will probable alter mine agsin in some other year or 10k or 12k miles.. its low maintenance.

Re: Concluding Gear Oil
Beingness gear oil in theory it should go for a long while....like my Ford truck that had about 150K on the same gear oil. However, its like shooting fish in a barrel to modify every bit long every bit you don't damage the threads of either the drain or input bolt. Use a good synthetic gear oil with the correct viscosity...and remember this stuff stinks regardless of usage.

Suzuki hypoid eighty-xc, $7.00 from the dealer for 1000ml. Takes a couple of minutes to modify and can do it four times for vii bucks, including some spillage. At less than two bucks a change, I'll do it once a yr for peace of mind.

Re: Final Gear Oil
I am currently running Mobile1 constructed 75w90 in my S83 rear drive. No problems at all. The highways are also pretty hot here in Due south Texas this time of year, so I appreciate the synthetic'due south ability to not pause downward equally easily as the dead dinosaur juice.

Re: Concluding Gear Oil
I've never changed it and have never had a rear gear go bad. As for what weight to use, don't recollect that matters much either except for extreme heavy duty apply.

Information technology is very easy to practise. I use Mobile1 Constructed. Once a yr would probably exist overkill for me and how much I ride, but what the hey. I'd rather brand sure it stays clean. A quart of gear oil should final iv years at that rate. Cheap insurance.
